Plot

This episode starts with Aelita and Jeremie outside of the Hermitage. They are talking and Jeremie explains that he wants to see if he can find anything else that will help them in their fight against Xana. Inside, Jeremie searches the study and turns up nothing while Aelita goes into the living room. She finds a picture of her on her father's lap that was taken just before they went to Lyoko. She shows it to Jeremie and he says she looks happy. After further inspection of it, he notices that he can read some formulas on the board behind them that are the rough draft of a programing code. Aelita asks him if he thinks it will help and he reminders her that he is desperate.

Once they get back to school, Jeremie scans the picture into his computer and enhances it. He's excited to find out that the formulas are, in fact, a program.

In the cafeteria, Yumi is concerned about Odd as he has only gotten two rounds of seconds. Odd tells her she if fine and Ulrich asks him if this has anything to do with a certain girl he likes. Odd tells them that he hasn't been able to get her attention. Ulrich suggests he could "grow a few inches" to which Odd responds "Wanna try wearing today's lunch?!" Aelita comes just then and explains that Jeremie thinks he found something in an old picture, which gives Odd the idea to send his crush a picture of him. Ulrich tells him that he would have a better chance if he sent her a picture of Kiwi, as she likes small dogs to which Yumi accusatorially asks how he knows that.

Odd goes to Jeremie's room to send the picture and arrives just as Jeremie has burned the information from the program onto a CD. Jeremie agrees but tells Odd not to touch anything else and then leaves to go eat. Odd promises then gets to work sending his e-mail. He sends it but then discover that instead of sending it to his crush, he sent it to Sissi. And to make matters worse, instead of sending the picture of himself, he sent the picture of Aelita and Franz Hopper.

Sissi, who opened the e-mail and thought she recognized the man in the photograph, showed the picture to her father. Her father is surprised to discover Franz Hopper was related to Aelita. Sissi asks about him and her father explains that he taught a Kadic and went missing one day and then was replaced by Mrs. Hertz. He asks where she got the picture and Sissi tells him that it was in an e-mail Odd sent her. Upon hearing this, he deduces that with Odd being Aelita's cousin, Odd also is related to Franz. He wants an explanation from them and sends Jim to find them.

Outside, Jeremie is explaining to the gang that the formulas were just to reboot the computer, nothing special. Odd asks if that means the picture is top secret and Jeremie tells him that it would be bad for a picture of Aelita and her father to fall into the wrong hands. Odd asks if that means Sissi and Aelita realizes what he has done. Before he can explain, Jim comes and calls Aelita and Odd to the principal's office and Jim has the others come as well, even though they have class.

In the principal's office, Jim is playing the bad cop and interrogating them. He asks Aelita for her last name, first name, and occupation to which she answers, "Stones, Aelita. Um . . . girl?" Jim thinks she is trying to talk back to him but Mr. Delmas calms him down. Then he shows them the picture and wants to know if Aelita really is Aelita Stones. She says she is and answers the same why to both his questions about being Canadian and being an orphan. She also confirms that Odd is her cousin. At this point, Jeremie speaks up and uses logic to point out that if Franz Hopper went missing nine years ago and in the picture Aelita is thirteen, that would make her twenty-two. But since Aelita is thirteen and not twenty-two, she can't be in the photograph. Mr. Delmas then has all five of them confined to the library for the rest of the day under Jim's supervision, to which Jim sarcastically remarks, "Wonderful."

In the Forest, Xana activates a Tower. In the principal's office, Mr. Delmas is on the phone trying to confirm Aelita's identity but has not turned up anything positive. After he hangs up, Xana possesses him.

In the library, Jim is reading a comic book while the gang sits at the table. Jeremie is on his computer when he discovers an activated tower. He tells the other just before Mr Delmas arrives. Mr. Delmas asks to see Aelita and tells Jim to make sure no one else leaves the library. As Aelita walks out with Mr. Delmas, Jeremie sees the Xana symbol in Mr. Delmas' eyes. Jim stops him and Jeremie explains to him that Delmas has been Xanafied and that Aelita can't go with him. Jim doesn't believe him and instead corrects Jeremie on how to address the principal.

The principal and Aelita are walking in the forest and Aelita asks if he is taking her to his office to which he responds in the negative. Aelita stops walking and Delmas turns and electrifies her. In the library, the rest of the gang is trying to get out but Jim tells him that if they want out, they will have to use what he taught them at comando camp (see I'd Rather Not Talk About It). They take his challenge and knock him down easily. In the sewers, Delmas is carrying an unconscious Aelita over his shoulder. As Delmas is entering the elevator, the rest of the gang is running toward the manhole entrance to the sewers from the woods. Odd is concerned about what Jim will do to them if the return to the past doesn't work while Jeremie reminds him that they have bigger problems to worry about. At the Factory, Mr. Delmas virtualizes Aelita.

Aelita arrives on Lyoko unconscious at the same time as the rest of the gang get to the factory. The gang finds Mr. Delmas waiting for them in the elevator. Odd stays to fight him while the others take the alternate route to the Lab.

Aelita looking up at the Scyphozoa.

On Lyoko, Aelita wakes up shortly after Jeremie gets to the supercomputer. Aelita turns around and finds the Scyphozoa. Aelita runs away from it while Jeremie virtualizes Yumi and Ulrich. Once they get there, XANA sends two Krabs to stop them from saving Aelita from the Scyphozoa. They attack and Ulrich quickly defeats one of them.

Odd fighting a XANA-fied Mr. Delmas.

Back at the Factory, Odd is gaining ground on his fight against Mr. Delmas.

On Lyoko, Aelita attacks the Scyphozoa but it dodges her attacks and grabs her. Jeremie discovers the Scyphozoa is implanting information into Aelita and tells Yumi and Ulrich to hurry up. They destroy the remaining Krab and head over to Aelita but they get there too late. Aelita has been Xanafied. To make matters worse, two Tarantulas arrive and start attacking them while Aelita heads for the edge to jump into the Digital Sea. Jeremie discovers the Scyphozoa implanted an inhibitor that prevents him from being able to devirtualize her. Jeremie tells Ulrich and Yumi they will have to devirtualize her themselves. Ulrich goes to do so but Aelita disarms him of one of his sabers and they get into a saber fight. Yumi manages to dodge tarantula fire but wants to know if they can get Odd for backup. Jeremie discovers that Odd is losing in his fight and tells Ulrich not to devirtualize Aelita. They need her to deactivate the tower but until they can return her to normal, that can't happen. Ulrich and Aelita continue to fight and Aelita uses both her energy fields and moves Ulrich taught her to her advantage.

Meanwhile in the Lab, Jeremie gets an idea. While Jeremie is setting up the Franz Hopper's program to reboot the supercomputer Jeremie found in the picture of Aelita and her father, Yumi destroys one of the tarantulas. Jeremie fills in Yumi and Ulrich and tells them to get ready and even though it is a risk, they have no other choice. Jeremie launches the program just as Aelita is about to devirtualize Ulrich. On Lyoko, the program is a big wave across Lyoko that freezes everything, followed by another that returns things to the way they are supposed to be. Once the second wave is over, Aelita returns to normal but her life points are low.

In the factory, things are looking even worse for Odd, who just barely manages to roll out of the way of the large metal items Mr. Delmas throws at him.

On Lyoko, Jeremie sends the Overbike and Ulrich gets on it and takes Aelita to the tower while Yumi fights with the remaining Tarantula. She gets devirtualized and the Tarantula follows after Ulrich and Aelita. Ulrich helps Aelita off the Overbike and blocks the Tarantula's attacks until Aelita enters the tower and then gets devirtualized. Once inside the tower, Aelita deactivates it with the Lyoko code just in time to save Odd. Jeremie launches a return to the past.

Back at Kadic, Aelita explains that Delmas couldn't have known her because she was taught at home. Yumi wants to make sure that there would be no way for someone to find a trace of Aelita Hopper and Aelita tells her that there would be no way, especially since her real name wasn't Hopper. Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi are all confused by this and Aelita explains that Schaeffer is her real last name and that her father changed it when they moved to the Hermitage. She also explains that Franz is her father's middle name while Hopper is her mother's maiden name. When Odd asked Jeremie if he knew, Jeremie said yes, but that it didn't matter because from then on out, she would be known as Aelita Stones.

The bell rings and they all head for class except Aelita who stays where she is. She pulls out the picture and remembers the laughter of moment the picture was taken.

Trivia

  • In this episode, the first name of Aelita's mother is made known to fans, Antea Schaeffer. However, she uses the false surname, Stones, when explaining her family situation to Principal Delmas because her identity is known as Aelita Stones at Kadic Academy.
  • This is the second time Aelita has used one of the other Lyoko warriors' weapons to use in combat. The only other time was during season 2 in the episode Attack of the Zombies. However, the difference is she used it under the control of XANA to fight Ulrich.
  • Last appearence of the Scyphozoa.
  • William does not appear in this episode, despite his importance in Season 4.
